Character Profile Series #02: Jordan Hollandaise

Jordan_Z_neutral

Welcome back to our weekly Character Profile Series! This week, we take a look at the youngest member of the Undead Darlings crew, Jordan. Let’s examine her basic stats and talk about why they are what they are!

Basic Stats
Blood type: B-
Height: 5’4” (~162cm)
Weight: 44kg (~97 lbs.)

So we added both versions of measurements to height and weight, but to keep being weird we switched which one is in parentheses. Enjoy!

Why B-? It’s a semi-rare blood type that is primarily compatible with other B types. Since Jordan shares many traits with typical hot/cold “tsundere” characters, this blood type’s semi-picky nature helps to emphasize her two key personality traits (based on Japanese blood-type culture): a passionate creator and an unforgiving independent. In other words, if you’re not her type, you can keep walking.

Why 5’4”? As we mentioned in Pearl Moira’s profile [link], this height sits on the shorter side of the average female’s height, and serves to differentiate her from her slightly taller cousin. Having only recently graduated from high school, this height is not as uncommon for girls her age.

What about 44kg? It’s roughly 97 pounds, which is light for a 5’4” female. Since she’s the youngest, her average weight classification is the lowest among all the girls. She’d probably round up to 100 pounds; that’s just how she is.

CPS02_1Character Relationships
Pearl: “We're cousins. We get along.”
Summer: “I'll show her what I can do!”
Kairi: “We're a smart duo, I guess.”
Cici: “She’s so frustrating!”
Emily: “I'll expose her true nature.”

We made a basic character relationship chart for everyone in the game, written as the character, so that we could best assign roles in event scenes. Who would say what, who would chime in or be critical of the speaker, et cetera. Such a small effort yields characters who don’t have to voice their motivations or feelings; rather, they come out organically based on the conversation’s topics.

Fun Factoids

  • Jordan used to live in the next town over with her parents, but they passed away due to a certain incident when she was in elementary school. Pearl’s parents took her in after that, which is partially responsible for how she became good friends with Reggie.

  • Since she was younger and smaller compared to Pearl and Reggie growing up, she has developed very thick skin when it comes to teasing and criticism. She often chimes in, even if she’s the target of the joke. The result is a laid-back girl with a very strong self-image, brimming with confidence.
  • Before the outbreak, Jordan was a semi-popular online personality and ran a channel called HoarseFeed, where she would argue with herself about the different opinions regarding movies. She is a bit of a movie and video game buff, and quotes them regularly. There’s a lot more to learn about her life with HoarseFeed, but Reggie will need to make the time to talk to her…

CPS02_3

  • As a strange admission, Jordan is open about her absolute disgust for creamed corn. There’s nothing rational or complex about it; she just cannot stand the stuff. Since she isn’t much of a cook, Pearl usually finds a way to slip some into her recipes. Jordan never seemed to notice…
  • Jordan attended a private school that catered to students from elementary school through high school. When she moved in with Pearl’s family, her parents made it clear in their will that their money was to go toward her education. Pearl’s family, in turn, made sure to keep Jordan enrolled in the same school even after she moved farther away.

Undead Scars
Jordan has her primary scar hidden under her hair and the bandage wrapping her head. How it happened, she is hesitant to say, but its effects are more than obvious. She is having issues remembering things clearly, which when coupled with her contrary attitude, results in her pulling information out of people without actually admitting she forgot something.

CPS02_4Gameplay with Jordan
When using Jordan as an active member of the party, she is the primary long-range attacker when it comes to weaponry. These piercing weapons aren’t as easy for others to wield, so she’s a good choice to round out your party’s equipped weapon types. Her ability to use Skills that can treat wounds puts her a little above Pearl, at least in terms of Skill prowess. She is best used in a party with another well-rounded fighter and either a Skill-focused character or a damage-soaking powerhouse.

Just like with Pearl, it’s advised to add her into your party at least once per dungeon, as several subevents—particularly early on in the game—hinge on her being present.

Thanks for reading up on Jordan, everyone! Next week we will cover the third character you meet in the game, the bossy and intelligent Kairi Fujisaki!
