Patreon Update #01: First look at the Police Station dungeon!

tsukarechan_smugHi everyone, Tsukarechan reporting in!

Mr. Tired is busy posting updates over on his Patreon page, so I'm here to…um, post those posts after everyone donating to Mr. Tired Media have had the chance to check them out!

Why don't you consider donating a cup of coffee each month to my daddy? I guess he can even get some kinda drink for just $1, so anything you can do would be a mega-big help! He did tell me that it's totally optional and that Undead Darlings ~no cure for love~ will be developed no matter what. Your donations are a way for him to keep everyone in the loop on development updates, give NickyD time to post opinion pieces and do live streams, and for everyone involved in the project to get paid and get their work done faster!

Read on for the first Patreon update posted last week, okay?!

This Week's Update: 3D Dungeons

Police Station

Each week, we'll show off something different. Enemy designs and 3D dungeon designs will be the two main things I can show until we get more music tracks and a really cool preview of the battle system ready to roll. That said, this week is the unveiling of the very first dungeon you'll visit in Undead Darlings—the abandoned police station where Pearl's dad (Jordan's uncle) worked as the police chief. Some of those florescent lights need to get rotated, but that'll be "final touch" stuff.

I went back in after some Patreon commenters gave us some advice for some improved shadows/fog, so the image below is a more updated image in terms of fog and draw distance:

It is here where Reggie's father, Dr. Happenstahnce, stashed one extra vial of the zombie cure in case something happened to him. Since neither Reggie nor his friends know what became of Dr. Happenstahnce, they decide to get the cure and begin their own journey to find not just Reggie's father, but a place where the cure can be mass-produced.

The police station consists of two large floors, employs some unlocking of one-way doors to create shortcuts, but overall acts as an introduction to the dungeon-crawling RPG system within this visual novel.

Just for fun, I'm popping in a few screenshots of comparable Japanese dungeon crawlers released lately. See for yourself the stylistic differences and how a tiny team of indies stack up against larger Japanese companies' efforts!
