Yay, welcome Solice! Haven’t been able to chat with you much since the olden days of the NIS America forums. Good to have you here!

Haha, yes! While I can’t toss out an official announcement or anything quite yet, it is possible that we will have help from another publisher to distribute a limited number of physical copies for the PC version! Looking into limited runs for PlayStation 4 discs, but… That may be too pricey…

Oh my gosh, Agarest War. I got the Platinum trophy for that game, totally not worth it XD
No sweat, I think the grinding is mostly going to be heading through dungeons multiple times with different party setups to access sub-events. No ingredient grinding and loot should be plentiful for healing and equipment.
Might need to add cues even if the right party isn’t present to limit guesswork on the player’s part (something like “you sense a conversation could occur here between X, Y, and Z because Game Logic.”)

    Hey StomachGod, welcome!
No sweat on not watching much anime 😉
My tendency to watch it comes and goes… I end up watching ridiculous stuff like NCIS on Netflix (if you approach that show as a live-action anime and not as anything realistic, it’s…kind of fun…)

But I do have a suggestion based on the list you offered!!
It’s called Claymore. It’s mostly ladies, but not fanservicey at all. I really, truly enjoyed almost that entire series…but it is crippled by its ending, like so so so so many anime based on unfinished manga. That said, whew, it’s a fun watch!

I’ve got to check out One Punch Man… Sounds like a lot of good times!

Most excellent! I have a few scenes in mind, in that case.
    I’ve found it easier to program scenes when there are only two or three girls involved; when I have all six plus Buck, it turns into a logistical nightmare having to keep track of where they are on-screen, their emotion, and swapping them with another character o_O;
Maybe sub-events will make for good, quick scene videos. Not related to the key story/plot, not related to each specific character’s arc. Just fun banter between active party members — and I won’t lie, it’s definitely a concept we’re taking right out of Dungeon Travelers’ playbook. It’s such a nice touch and makes you want to keep swapping your party members around to find more!
(Perhaps this is considered acceptable grinding? We’ll see how folks feel after they’ve played the demo for a while!)

Absolutely. I can’t get everything either, but I do enjoy giving certain IPs or creators a little nudge that their work is still appreciated.

Repurchased Rogue Galaxy on the PS4 because it was a great, overlooked game toward the end of the PS2’s cycle…and I never did complete the optional ghost ship dungeon, make the final weapons, or even bother with many of the mini-games. Now I will, and I’ll earn trophies doing it!

…Yes, I’m a sucker for trophies. In my world, I see them as milestones that the developers create so that you can “properly” play the game to completion and experience everything they intended. I say this as I’m trying to put together a trophy list for Undead Darlings — you know, just in case it hits a PlayStation console. 😉

Yay! Thank you for the responses. It’s not as though I was fishing for info about how to develop our game, but I did want to make sure we were prioritizing the right things instead of just “what Nick likes.”

Sounds like we’ll be able to accommodate most of y’all’s preferences. Once we get a finished music track, Larx, we’ll see how that stacks up 😉

Playing around with character scale/placement and enemy placement now. Black background keeps me sane.

Welcome, neptuniafan! I too have enjoyed my share of hours in Gamindustri.

Excellent suggestions both. Dialogue scenes I can make screenshots of all day long. Dungeon exploration screens…will have to wait for a little bit. Need more graphical assets. Battle screens are maybe…a few weeks away from being representative of what we want.

Music’s in the works! It’s a lot of fun but we’ll see when our first fully mastered track gets in. I don’t expect it for another month, but I’ve been surprised before!

As for voice acting… Well, we’ll see. That’s an incredibly expensive part of a game’s development, but I have been asking for some lines to be read so that we can get a cast forming in our heads, just in case 🙂

You and me both. Not that I have anything against fanservice (To Love-Ru is my guiltiest of pleasures); I just want it to stay in its own genre instead of bleeding into literally every title ever.

There’s some in the first few episodes of Pet Girl, but it tapers off pretty fast and turns into “dat drama.”

Wrapping up Pet Girl of Sakurasou. Was expecting some light fanservice fluff, but what I got was a show that dives into the maddening spiral of hard work, hoping for better days, and then the crushing reality that sometimes your failures have absolutely nothing to do with you or your efforts.

…It’s a much better show than I expected. 10/10 would relate to again.

Hahaha. Very few anime use the zombies as main characters. There was that one, Sankarea, but it leaned more toward the dark/creepy side of things.

Highschool of the Dead is a pretty fun anime romp through the zombocalypse, but it requires some fanservice acceptance to truly enjoy.
